the movie i really want to see now is Marie Antoinette, it looks amazing. i love sophia coppila movies, she has this sort of twist on things, i dig her work. anyway i was watching some like preview thing and in it you see kristen dunst who plays marie standing on a balcony and in a voice over she says, "to disapoint them would be my greatest unhappiness". the connection coppela makes to her audience, mainly teenagers is so direct and clear. we are all now stuck with this fear of disappointing someone, whether it be our parents or our friends or our teachers, etc . i think she hit the nail on the head with the poke at ourselves as a culture. it seems that we put a high premium on "success". what is sucess? can we measure it ? lets face it folks sucess is money. money is materialism. and materialism is what's sufficating us all. capitalism is taking our innocence and our intelligence. earlier today my mother said to me, save your money if you want to be sucessful. did she mean that in order to accomplish anything in life i will need money. whatever happened to being happy? materalism has replaced happiness. as long as you have enough sneakers you'll be happy. the kids are not okay. were lost and dependent on the media to point us in a direction because no one else will. not that anyone else knows what really is happening either. it's all a big freeforall. eat or be eaten. were an era lost in time, come a hundred years no one will remember us. were a time known for our materialism. no one's transcended. all the world's a stage. and were a production that isn't finished its run but will close early from lack of interest. or the stage will blow up. which ever comes first. we'll be remembered for our lack of originality. in my time no political leader was assinated. no one discovered atlantis. no genius imerged from the woodwork with bad hair. no one caught the plague. no one cured cancer. no world war. and were left fighting the same holy war people did thousands of years ago but no one knows it. we won't be remembered for anything. unless we change. and no one's really tp be getting on that yet. so for the time being what have we got to lose? who are we disappointing? ourselves? so we don't meet our own expectations of what our lives our supposed to be. big whoop. we haven't anyone to tell us our lives arent going to get better. were all just waiting. waiting on something and anything. and in the meantime we just bitch at each other to pass time. so i say go ahead get out there and disappoint.try and fail. youve got nothing to lose. be successful dont be. but measure it by your own standards.
